YOU ARE LIKE YOUR NEIGHBOR (PAUL TRIPP)

We would normally be in 2 Corinthians 10 today, but I saw a video today that I felt was important to share. We are called to love God & love others (Matthew 22). Let’s purpose to do so with humility recognizing that we ourselves are flawed people who are dependent upon the grace of God every single day.

SPIRITUAL ADULTERY

Adultery. That’s not a very talked about or popular subject yet it plagues our society not just on a physical level but a spiritual one as well. If we’re honest, believers share in the spiritual adultery as well as we chase after the things of this world. Let’s take some honest time to reflect and consider our lives: are we living for God or for the world? Which relationship is more important to us? It’s not an area we necessarily…

WHAT’S ON YOUR MIND?

Open the Facebook app or a web browser and you’ll see near the top of the page: “What’s on your mind?” Social media has been both a blessing and a curse to our world. Satan in particular has tricked us with it at times. Take a few moments to consider your social media use and watch this video.

FINAL THOUGHTS (1 cORINTHIANS 16)

Sometimes we skip over the introduction and conclusion of a book. Yet these ections of a book can be a gold mine if we take the time. 1 Corinthains 16 is one of those instances. As the Apostle Paul closes his letter, he gives some final instructions that we need to pay attention to. Take a moment to read 1 Corinthians 16 and then watch. 1 Corinthians 16 NET

SUCCESSFUL RELATIONSHIPS (EPHESIANS 5)

Ephesians 5 is all about relationships. Paul gives important instructions for marriage relationships and that discussion continues into chapter 6 on family and work relationships as well. As we purpose to implement these instructions in our lives through the power of the Spirit and letting him do his work in us, we set up our relationships to be successful. Take some time today to read the passage and reflect on your own relationship. How might you further implement these instructions.…

CONFIDENT PRAYER TO GOD (EPHESIANS 3)

Ephesians 3 contains a well known doxology of the Apostle Paul. As well known as these words are, they express the confidence Paul has in God as he reflects on what God has done in the church and asks God to do specific things within the Ephesian church. Take a moment to read Ephesians 3 and watch. Ephesians 3 NET

LOVE FOR THE LOST – ROMANS 9

Paul’s concern for his fellow countrymen is poured out in the text of chs. 9-10 or Romans. He is so concerned for them, so moved by their present condition, that he will do anything in order that they might be saved. The question we are begged to answer today is this: do I possess that kind of love for the lost around me?

GOD IS FOR US – ROMANS 8

Romans 8 is great chapter! It is a conclusion in the middle of the book to the first section (chs. 1-8). Paul has traced in these chapters man’s great problem (sin), the avenue to salvation (faith), and what God has done to provide the solution (life in/through Christ Jesus). Chapter 8 concludes reminding us amazingly how God is for us! Take a moment to read it and then watch this video.

PEACE & LOVE – ROMANS 5

Romans 5 paints for us both sides of the gospel message. We that we deserved judgement and yet God showed us love and through faith in him we have peace. We praise God who has loved us so greatly, even when we were unloveable.

GOD IS…

Holy. That word was in my mind today, in part because of a song that has been in my head most of the day. Holy is so much more than just moral purity as we describe God. It refers to the distinctness of every facet of his character – he loves with a holy love, he judges with holy justice, he has holy mercy, holy grace. And he has called us to be holy as he is holy (1 Pe…

HERE’S YOUR SIGN – MATTHEW 27

At various points in the Gospels, we see Jesus telling people that his death and resurrection will be a sign of who he is – the Messiah, the Son of the Living God. Yet that sign was rejected as we see in Matthew 27. He didn’t save himself though so that he might save us.

THE GREATEST – MATTHEW 22

Matthew 22 talks about the two greatest commandments. These have been the mission of GBC for many years. Through this interaction, Jesus speaks of devotion to the Lord with our whole being and loving our fellow man. We through the phrase around “love God, love others”, but do we do so to the extent he mentions? This has been a favorite of mine and both encouraging and convicting as I read it over and over again.

TESTIMONY FROM IRELAND

In a time when circumstances and much that we hear through media can discourage us, here is a story from Ireland of God at work. This pastor was hospitalized by the COVID-19 virus and came through it. His testimony reminds us to call out to God. He hears us. He is still there. And he’s answering prayer and doing amazing things in people’s lives.

WHAT DO YOU WORSHIP?

In Matthew 2, we find the wise men from the east coming to worship Jesus. Herod says he desires to as well & asks them to report back to him. Seeing that word in the text & the actions that transpired for the different parties begs us to ask what do we worship? Worship and love affect our thoughts, actions, and investments of time and money. What do you worship?
